Introducing the Furcraea macdougallii, which is a low-maintenance succulent plant that belongs to the Furcraea, opens in a new tabGo to furcraea family. It is sometimes misspelled as Furcraea macdougalii (with a single “l”).

Native to Mexico, the Furcraea macdougallii is sometimes referred to as the "MacDougal's Giant Century Plant" due to its impressive size and growth rate. A mature Furcraea is a cross between an agave, opens in a new tabGo to types of agave plants for sale and a small palm.

The term "giant" is used to describe its large stature, with leaves that can reach up to 8 feet in length and a plant overall height of about 15 feet.

The term "century plant" is often used to describe succulents in the Agave family, including the Furcraea macdougalii, because of the misconception that they only bloom once every 100 years.

While this is not entirely accurate, these plants do have a long lifespan and typically take several years to reach maturity and produce their tall flower spikes.

So, the name "MacDougal's Giant Century Plant" captures both its size and the perception of its infrequent blooming. The Furcraea plant is a large succulent with a rosette of long, sword-like leaves that can reach a length of 8 feet. The leaves are bluish-green in color and have sharp spines along the edges. The plant forms a sturdy trunk over time, adding to its architectural appeal.

The Furcraea macdougallii produces tall flower spikes that can reach a height of 15 to 20 feet. The flowers are greenish-white in color and are arranged in clusters along the spike. The blooming period occurs once the plant reaches maturity, which can take several years. The plant then produces bulbils (plantlets) at the flower base, which continue to live because it is monocarpic, with the main plant dying after flowering.

When it comes to Furcraea macdougallii care, it is a drought-tolerant plant and should be watered sparingly. To prevent root rot, allow the soil to dry between waterings. This succulent thrives in full sun to partial shade. Place it somewhere where it will receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Using well-draining succulent is essential for the Furcraea macdougallii.

The Furcraea macdougallii thrives in indoor temperatures between 65-75°F and requires well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Outdoors, it is best suited for USDA hardiness zones 9-11, where it can tolerate temperatures as low as 20°F.

Propagation of the Furcraea macdougallii can be done through offsets or by seed. Offsets are small plantlets that grow at the base of the mother plant and can be separated and replanted to create new plants. Seed propagation involves collecting seeds from the plant, sowing them in a well-draining soil mix, and keeping them consistently moist until they germinate.

Overall, Furcraea macdougallii is a unique and striking plant that would make a beautiful addition to any garden or landscape. Its distinctive appearance and low maintenance requirements make it a popular choice for many gardeners.

Nice looking, quality is iffy 🤷🏻‍♀️
Size: 7, Color: Black Leather
Love the look of these, nice and comfortable, or so I thought. I wore them for the first time yesterday and they rubbed the top of my foot. I hate that they are lined in a fabric that causes friction. I kept them because I loved the look of them, but, in all honesty I think they are expensive for the quality. My right shoe has scrub marks on the leather :-(

NICE QUALITY
super comfortable and looks just like the picture. I usually wear 8 1/2, but since Hey Dudes don't have 1/2 sizes I purchased an 8, they fit perfect and still feel a little roomy.

Quality and balance
Color: Grey, Color: Grey
If you are reading this review and looking at this watch, you are most likely someone that appreciates mechanical movements and the rich history behind them and the brands that are known for making quality watches which have a beautiful balance between a timepiece and a piece of jewelry. For me, I have multiple sport watches with many complications and some that cost as much or even more than this Tissot Le Locle but anyone that wears a watch and appreciates the heritage of a mechanical movement must own this watch. The jewelry part of this watch is amazing, not loud, just a refined look making a statement that this is not something cheap. The picture does not do it justice. The dial has an amazing "personality" where under low lighting it looks silver and under normal lighting soft white making a beautiful contrast between the black hands and black roman numerals only to surprise you again when you change the viewing angle and the black numerals change to silver. The black hands will give you no trouble reading the time at a glance and 39mm will prove to be the perfect size for any wrist. The movement is high quality as expected to be in a Tissot and will be working for many years to come so you can pass this watch down to another generation. As a matter of fact, last year my mother who is 78 found the Tissot watch she had in her youth that was in a box with old family watches and she had not worn for decades. She gave the crown a few spins and the watch came back to life keeping accurate time. This is what you can expect from a Tissot movement. So if you are buying this for your self, you are in the right place, if you are buying it for someone else, make sure they can appreciate what this is otherwise you are better off spending your money elsewhere. You should also consider getting quality quick release black and brown leather straps with a classic buckle to make this watch suitable for any attire.
